Invasive Species in the Kennebecasis

Over the past few years invasive species have made their presence felt across the Kennebecasis Watershed.  The KWRC has undertaken actions to monitor and better understand how those species will impact our watershed.  Working with our partners at the NB Invasive Species Council, University of New Brunswick, and other watershed groups we have already completed a great deal of work on this growing topic.  We have outlined our projects on two species below and encourage you to lear more by checking out some of the resources we link in.

Eurasian Water Milfoil

In 2020 the KWRC completed an observation survey of the Kennebecasis from Norton down to the Gondola Point Ferry where we had six kayaks run in a grid pattern seeking out Eurasian Water Milfoil (EWM).  This effort led to the development of a EWM invasion map where we highlighted hotspots on the River.
