What's New

Despite the current challenges, we have been working on some great projects this summer. To keep our community informed, and grow our following, we have started our "Weekly Watershed Walks". In these videos, posted on our YouTube and Facebook accounts, we cover topics like: Willow Staking, Good and Bad Riparian Zones, and How to do a Shoreline Cleanup, in order to better educate people on what we do here at the KWRC, and how they can help.

The Kennebecasis Watershed Restoration Committee has partnered with Multicultural Association of Sussex in order to host a hands on workshop to build bird boxes for song birds and ducks

The boxes built during this event will be placed at KWRC restoration sites which will help to enhance breeding habitat for a variety of cavity nesting ducks and songbirds in the watershed (they are not to take home).

This is a fun and educational activity for families or individuals, and a great way to give back to the community and to mother nature!

1. Register yourself/ your family/ bubble friends for a 30 minute time slot between 6:00 pm and 8:30 pm for Monday June 29th.

2. We will have designated spaces for each family (or bubble), and a staff member will help guide you along while you build your bird box. This activity will take up to 30 minutes to complete.

3. The stations will be sanitized in between each group

4. In light of COVID-19 we will supply hand sanitizer, and we ask that families maintain proper physical distancing, as well as follow the recommended guidelines. In order to be able to host small outdoor activities we must prioritize safety. A consent form must be signed by each family in order to participate (stating that you understand the risks associated with COVID-19 at this time).
